A rare village in Rajasthan where people have forgotten to smile, except to make fun of people passing by. While we were walking in the village with our driver, we were attacked by teenagers who violently threw shoes at our backs. Never in front....Supported by adults who found it normal because they are only children. So they forgot to educate... The fort is reaaly beautiful, large, imposing. Its interior courtyards, the maze of corridors, the discreet but refined decoration, the small temple, the gardens, the well-maintained swimming pool, make it a very pleasant place to live. Despite the flower leis and the welcome drink, the welcome was cold and under pressure, even though we were alone with a group of 10 old bikers. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, with a seating area, mini fridge, air conditioning and fan. Bottled water, kettle, tea and coffee available. A rack for luggage.Everything is clean, and the linen is soft. The bathroom is correct and functional. Courtesy cosmetics . Dinner is taken on the terrace by the pool in buffet style. Regional dishes adapted to Western mouths. The soup is an industrial dehydrated soup like in most hotels. The copious breakfast buffet is taken in the restaurant upstairs. Two criticisms: the welcome (reception) and the table service are froozy, like the people of the village. As in many hotels in India, luggage porters wait insistently in the room for a tip. We are happy to give when it is not an obligation and we prefer to use a Tip Box when there is one. The waiter who served us breakfast did not ask for a tip, nor did the woman who swept the yard. So why only those who carried the suitcases 20 or 50 meters? A Tip Box would be more democratic, if it exists, it would be interesting to ask baggage handlers to respect the customer's freedom.

We stayed at this hotel during a motorcycle tour of Rajasthan in February 2024. It’s a fascinating glimpse into the history of Bijaipur. It’s a castle originally built in the 16th century which was converted into an exquisite heritage hotel in the early 1990s. Everything about the hotel – the luxurious rooms & grand verandas, gracefully-manicured grounds and all of the buildings and facilities - reflects the history and culture of Rajasthan, and the famous Rajput hospitality. You can even climb onto the old castle walls (via a stairway) which will evoke a slight sense of what life may have been during the early history of the castle! As a base for motorcycle touring around the area, the hotel was a pleasant and peaceful haven, which gave us glimpses into a bygone epoch and the extensive history of Bijaipur.

We had previously stayed at this hotel a few years ago and it was wonderful place to return to . We were not disappointed and neither were our friends who were there for the first time. We stayed for 2 nights and wished it was 3! The staff were very accommodating, even offering us an evening drive in the countryside and sunset tea by a lake. Evening drinks and nibbles by the fire in the courtyard was lovey and the food was great too. Even though it was winter we enjoyed a swim in the pool. For our final breakfast the staff offered us s table by the pool (instead of the restaurant) which was a lovely experience.

The castle is located in rural Rajasthan, a convenient to Chittorgarh Fort. It has beautiful grounds, a wonderful marble swîmming pool. The castle itself is full of character and original features and gives a unique opportunity to stay in the home of the regional Maharaja. Wonderful staff, many of whom have worked for the Castle for many years. Bhru deserves special mention here. Excellent food, atmospheric pre dinner drinks, occasionally with the Maharajah and his family present. The jeep safari, organised by the excellent hotel manager, was very interesting and an opportunity to learn about the local farming and village life. The Castle’s magnificent Mewar horses provide memorable horse safaris.
